This
PGA event brings the best players in golf to the
shores of the Pacific Ocean in San Diego every
winter. The best of the best will be the center of
the attention, as the biggest names in golf shoot
for a coveted early-season win.
The Century Club of
Farmers Insurance Open is one of the first events of
the PGA season, and the venue is one of the finest
golf courses in the world.
The event has been
played in San Diego since 1952. From 1989 through 2009,
it was known as the Buick Invitational. Before Farmers
Insurance came on board as sponsor, it temporarily
reverted to being called the San Diego Open.
Farmers signed a one-year
to sponsor the event. The deal between Farmers and the
PGA, which operates the men's golf tour, includes an
option that could allow the country's third-largest
auto-homeowners insurance provider to sponsor future
tournaments.

the PGA Tour. Torrey Pines has hosted the tournament
every year since 1968, with rounds split between its

hosts the final round).

the world, which should be enough to put him in the

two of the final three holes to close out a round of 68
