PGA Tour Championship Live Lines

The Tour Championship presented by Coca Cola is in fact more than just a premier event, it is THE crowning event of The FedEx Cup series, a season-long event for the players that was promoted as a way to crown a champion on Tour.

THE TOUR Championship is the official final tournament on the golf PGA TOUR season. Starting from 1997, the Championship was held in different places, either at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas, or at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. East Lake Club became the contests permanent residence in 2004.

Some of the past champions here include the most famous golfers in recent history. Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh have all won THE TOUR Championships.

2012 Winner of The Tour Championship

Henrik Stenson played three and a half stellar rounds of golf at East Lake Golf Course and won the 2012 Tour Championship. Stenson started the final round with a four-shot lead. His only bogey of the day came at the 14th hole and his two under par 68 total on the day would give him the win, and the FedEx Cup.

2011 Winner of The Tour Championship

Bill Haas wound up winning a combined $11.44 million, including $10 million for capturing the FedEx Cup and the 2011 The Tour Championship. Mahan, who failed to save par from a bunker on the third extra hole, had to settle for $864,000 as the runner-up and $700,000 for finishing seventh in the FedEx Cup.

2010 Winner of The Tour Championship

Though the FedEx Cup playoffs have been criticized a whole lot since its’ inception, the final event of the playoffs, The Tour Championship, pretty much always gives us some interesting storylines and finishes. That was the case today, as it came down to one putt for Jim Furyk, and the veteran dropped in the par putt on 18 to hold off Luke Donald, and win the tournament. But that wasn’t all. Furyk’s win also put him at the top of the FedEx Cup standings, and he is your 2010 FedEx Cup winner.

Phil Mickelson had the smaller check and felt like the biggest winner. Tiger Woods was congratulated after he finished second in the Tour Championship.

It was the ninth time that golf's two biggest stars finished 1-2 in a tournament. Never have they shared the spotlight, each going home with a trophy that was meaningful in its own way. Mickelson capped off a tumultuous summer at home with a spectacular rally at East Lake, closing with a 5-under 65 to go from four shots behind to a three-shot victory.

Camilo Villegas made up a five-shot deficit in the final round to win the Tour Championship, closing with a 4-under 66 and beating Sergio Garcia on the first playoff hole with a two-putt par.
Villegas had gone 85 starts on the PGA Tour without winning, but Sunday was his second victory in a row.

The 26-year-old Colombian wound up second in the FedEx Cup behind Vijay Singh, who only had to complete the Tour Championship to capture the $10 million prize.

Villegas, who should move to No. 6 in the world ranking, earned $1.26 million for winning the Tour Championship and $3 million in bonus money for his second-place finish in the FedEx Cup.

In 2007, Tiger Woods was able to win 2 trophies in one tournament. Tiger took home both the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup. Woods shot a final-round 66 to win by eight shots and claim the $1.26 million first prize at East Lake and the $10 million in deferred compensation for winning the inaugural FedEx Cup. It was his seventh victory of 2007 and the 61st of his career, moving him one behind Arnold Palmer and three behind Ben Hogan.
